Natural Horsemanship

Natural HorsemanshipPhoto Credit: Leah Rockford (info)We at W-One Curly Horse Farm believe that Natural Horsemanship leads to better horsemanship and a happier, healthier life for both horse and owner.

Our clinics lean heavily towards the Parelli methods, but not exclusively.

Natural Horsemanship involves working with the natural characteristics of the horse.

  • Utilizing body language natural to herd animals.
  • Being always cognizant of a horse's natural instincts.
  • Using operant conditioning, cues, reinforcement, rather than brute force.

We do not use fear or pain-based training methods, but rather work towards a trusting relationship between horse and owner.

Natural Horsemanship is nothing new. There are many references to Xenophon in ancient Greece having used natural horsemanship techniques.

This best explains the richness that has come into my life due to the study of these techniques of being with horses allowing the dignity of the horse to remain and yet clear communication is achieved with respect for both horse and human. Its the psychology aspect and through training curly horses I have found a deepening of my human relationships as well. It is very powerfull, and yet everyone is having fun with their horses! WIN, WIN!
